Strategic Goals
APSS has aimed, in the exercise of its task as port authority, to follow a responsible management in view of pursuing economic, financial, social and environmental sustainability efficiency principles, which are referred to in the company’s annual Sustainability Report. These principles are materialized in five main goals:

• Improvement in competiveness of the port of Setubal and services rendered in the port of Setubal, through an improvement of access to commercial terminals and deepening of a commercial policy together with the port community and focused on the customer and capturing and consolidating regular line traffic, stimulating those who generate bigger growth and traffic volume and adopting an attractive fee policy.
• Increase the Hinterland of the port of Setubal, through an intensification of the publicity activities with the port community in Spain, up to Madrid, in all cargo segments, of the creation and stimulation of regular rail liaisons between ports and 2 nd line logistic terminals, of the participation in the development of the new logistic platforms of Poceirão and Elvas and of the support to the implementation of new regular services of Maritime Highways to/from the port of Setubal with European ports.
• Improvement environmental performance, through environmental monitoring and waste management, of a rational and efficient resource management and investing in safety , protection and quality.
• Improvement social performance, namely through the support to the development of fishing activity, carrying out interventions of planning and rehabilitation in Sesimbra and Setubal, and seeking to support leisure, tourism and nautical recreation activities.
• Improvement the company’s economical and financial balance, while part of the State Entrepreneurial Sector.
